SILICONE CARBIDE (SC) VÕS ALLUMINIUM OXIDE (AO)

Silicon Carbide is preferred for faster stock removal if the knife is chipped or highly blunt whereas Aluminium Oxide is preferred to finish the edge being a slower cutting stone.
